Land Settlement Agency Celebrates “A New Beginning: A Home for the Holidays” at Key Distribution Ceremony

The Land Settlement Agency hosted a Key Distribution Ceremony on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023, at the Government Campus Plaza in Port of Spain for beneficiaries of the Housing and Village Improvement Programme. The event, themed “A New Beginning: A Home for the Holidays,” saw over sixty (60) qualified applicants under the programme receive the keys to their brand new starter homes constructed by the LSA to replace the sub-standard unsafe structures they would have been previously occupying.
The Honourable Adrian Leonce, Minister in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Development, delivered an inspiring feature address, emphasizing the importance of affordable and accessible housing for all citizens. He detailed the role the programme plays in the overall efforts of the Ministry to address the issue of inadequate housing in our country and praised the LSA for its management of the HVIP which has led to the programme receiving significant increases in funding since its inception.
Present at the event were the LSA’s chairman Mr. Wayne Innis, who delivered the opening address, as well as Mr. Hazar Hosein, the LSA’s Chief Executive Officer. A number of distinguished guests were also in attendance including the Honourable Brian Manning, Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Member of Parliament for San Fernando West and Councillor Kwesi Antoine who represented the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation. Senior Officials of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Land Settlement Agency added to the cadre of distinguished guests.
Mr. Innis, in his opening remarks, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and all the various stakeholders making the HVIP as impactful as it has been and his desire to see this collaborative spirit continue into the future.
